Major WWE Star Taking Time Off
A former WWE Champion is taking a break.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest continued their long-running and incredible physical rivalry inside a steel cage.
As has become typical of both men, neither held anything back as they went to war one more time. In the end, the match was won by Priest, who felled McIntyre with a sickening Con-Chair-To before calmly walking out of the cage door, much to the disgust of Jesse Ventura on commentary.
With the match over, medics rushed to attend to McIntyre, although he eventually walked backstage under his own power.
Ahead of the match, Drew McIntyre revealed he was unable to fully turn his head, before adding that working hurt is part of the game.
Drew McIntyre Stepping Away From WWE
According to reports from Mike Johnson of PWInsider and Fightful Select, Drew McIntyre will be taking an extended leave of absence. The Scottish star has been banged up for several weeks, although he’s continued to wrestle and appear on television as planned.
There’s no word on when McIntyre will be back in the ring.
The news comes after it was reported that Damian Priest had also been working injured for some time. Priest has earned significant praise backstage for continuing to perform at a high level despite also being banged up.
In better injury news for the company, Bronson Reed made his return to television at Saturday Night’s Main Event to join forces with Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman. Reed had been out of action since Survivor Series 2024 after suffering a serious ankle injury after jumping from the top of the WarGames cage.
