Major WWE Star Returns On SmackDown (Spoiler)
A former WWE Champion is back!
Following his Cage Match against Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Drew McIntyre went on hiatus. Although the exact details behind his desire for a break were unclear, there were suggestions he was looking to recover from a physically demanding first half of 2025.
For much of the year, McIntyre had been at war with Priest, but with their storyline now over, the Scottish star’s next move appeared unclear.
Drew McIntyre Returns On WWE SmackDown
The July 4 episode of SmackDown was taped following Monday Night Raw, with WWE looking to give talent and staff time off over Independence Day weekend. But that doesn’t mean the show was without some big moments.
Cody Rhodes opened the show and addressed his win over Randy Orton at Night of Champions. This brought out The Viper, who admitted he was reluctant to pull the trigger on the punt kick during their match. He then got Rhodes to promise that he’d take out John Cena at SummerSlam.
But the love-in was interrupted by Drew McIntyre, who tried to turn the pair against each other, but he only ended up getting an RKO for his troubles.
Backstage, a match between McIntyre and Orton was made official for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
