Major WWE Star Retiring Before Injuries Force Him Out

AJ Styles Randy Orton WWE

One top WWE star has admitted that they’re retiring from the ring before injuries force them to give up their career.

2025 will best be remembered in wrestling as the year that John Cena competed for the final time in his legendary career. Cena has spent the final year of his career revisiting old rivalries and creating new ones as he has captured both the WWE Title and the Intercontinental Championship.

One of Cena’s final matches saw him share the ring once again with the man who loved nothing more than to “beat up John Cena” when he faced AJ Styles at Crown Jewel. Cena won that match, and it seems time is also running out on Styles’ career in WWE as well.

AJ Styles Wants WWE Career To End On His Terms

Speaking on No Contest Wrestling, AJ Styles discussed the end of his own career and why he wants to hang up his boots before injuries force him to quit:

Well, I’m hiding it well. I’m hiding it well. I’m a blessed man, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve been hurt, you know, for like two years in a row. I got hurt, broke my foot, and then I freaking had a Lisfranc injury which almost ended my career. I thought it was over.

But I was able to fight back, and be able to get back in the ring, and finish on my feet. That’s important to me. I’m the one who gets to decide when I’m finished. Not an injury. Not someone else. I get to decide that.

It’s widely expected that Styles will have the final match of his career in 2026, the year that he will turn 49. There’s plenty of life left in the Phenomenal One, however, as he is currently one-half of the World Tag Team Champions alongside Dragon Lee.
