Major WWE Star In SummerSlam Injury Scare
A huge WWE SummerSlam moment could have come at a cost.
At SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes continued his seemingly never-ending battle with The Bloodline as he took on Solo Sikoa. Although the American Nightmare walked in with championship gold and the WWE Universe behind him, the task ahead was immense.
With the match contested under “Bloodline Rules” fans were expecting chaos and that’s exactly what they got. There was a cameo from Arn Anderson before the opening bell, while Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens all got involved.
However, things seemed to turn following an intervention from Jacob Fatu who put Rhodes through the announce table with a huge splash from the top rope. But in true ‘never say die’ style, Rhodes fought back, and with both champion and challenger laid out, it was all to play for.
Reigns’ music hit to a monster ovation and after teasing he might hit Rhodes he flattened Sikoa with a massive Superman Punch and Spear before giving a nod of approval to his former rival. At this, Rhodes hit another Cross Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Title.
A bad night for The Bloodline could get even worse as Jacob Fatu appeared to injure his lower leg as he crashed through the announce table. He quickly clutched his lower leg after the move and was helped backstage by officials.
Jacob Fatu “Banged Up” Following WWE SummerSlam
Speaking at the post-SummerSlam press conference, Triple H said Fatu was “banged up,” but didn’t have any further details. The Game added that Logan Paul was also a little beaten up after he lost the United States Title to LA Knight.
“I have to mention Jacob Fatu because he’s like a force of nature, and it’s amazing to see him. Unfortunately, he got a little banged up in that last match. The only two real — Logan [Paul] is a little banged up, as he should be, and Jacob is a little banged up. I’ll see where that nets out here in a little bit. Hopefully, nothing serious. It was bugging him a little bit, the leg so, we will see where he is,”
Since making his debut on the June 21st episode of SmackDown, Jacob Fatu has quickly become a major player in WWE, winning the winning tag team gold alongside Tama Tonga the night before SummerSlam.
