Major WWE Star Found Their Own Character Exhausting

A top WWE star has admitted they needed a change.

In the weeks after WrestleMania, Charlotte Flair had lost her way, but Alexa Bliss offered her a different path and a new direction. Although Flair initially tried to keep her distance, the more the pair teamed together, the better they gelled and the more successful they were, all leading to SummerSlam.

At the summer spectacular, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss beat Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Charlotte Flair Thankful For WWE Change

Throughout her WWE career, Flair has been presented as the single biggest and most successful female Superstar in history. The star beat big names on big stages, winning an incredible number of championships in the process.

After all, Charlotte is the daughter of one of the all-time greats, so failure just wasn’t an option.

However, her new partnership with Bliss has allowed her to showcase a different side to her character and move away from the guarded and often cold championship-winning machine.

During an appearance on Post Run High, Flair admitted that she didn’t think it would be possible to humanise her wrestling persona to this degree. But regardless, she welcomed the change, as playing the role of the relentless winner and perfectionist had become exhausting.

“The fans are just now getting to enjoy the separation between who I am and the character. This Summer, I’ve partnered with someone whom I came up in the business with, her name is Alexa Bliss, and she has been able to humanise my character in a way that I never thought was possible.

So I went from being like the number one hated female in the wrestling industry just like four months ago, to like ‘oh she’s not so bad’… I felt like Charlotte always had to be perfect because of the pressure of being Ric’s kid, being the 14-time Women’s Champion, always in the title picture. It was exhausting.”

Speaking elsewhere, Charlotte Flair reiterated her desire to eventually step away from the ring and have children. However, she noted that stars such as Trish Stratus have shown it’s possible to have children and still wrestle into her late 40s.

Flair added that the number of women who have continued their careers after having children has proven that the wrestling door is never truly closed.
