Major WWE Star Could Be Out For A “Long, Long, Time”
A top WWE star could be out for a long time.
At SummerSlam, Naomi beat both Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky to retain the Women’s World Championship. The star had earlier won the gold at Evolution, cashing in her Money In The Bank contract to beat champion Sky as she defended against Ripley.
As the storyline continues, Naomi was due to defend the title against Iyo Sky on the August 11 edition of Raw; however, the match was dropped. At the time, WWE announced that Naomi was unable to compete, but no further details were provided.
With Naomi out, Sky took on Roxanne Perez instead.
Speculation Mounts Regarding WWE Star Naomi
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez gave an update on the situation around Naomi, noting that things aren’t looking good. He explained that there’s increasing talk that Naomi could be out for a very long time.
“There is definitely a rumor going around in WWE about what’s going on with Naomi, and like it’s being talked about by people there, and if it is, in fact, what’s going on, she is going to be out for a long, long time. Okay, I’ll just say that for now. My presumption is that, you know, people will find out probably fairly soon, but I think that it would be a while. If this is the case.”
Alverez went on to reference WWE hinting that Naomi could miss Clash in Paris during a backstage segment on Raw. After it was announced that the champion wouldn’t be in action, Stephanie Vaquer told Iyo Sky that she wasn’t the only person promised a title shot.
Vaquer had been set to challenge Naomi in Paris after winning the Battle Royal at Evolution.
“Clash in Paris isn’t for three more weeks. So oftentimes when, let’s say that she has a concussion, okay, if she had a concussion, they would just be [say] she’s not medically cleared to compete [and] they would evaluate her next week… To already presume she’s not going to be at Clash in Paris. That doesn’t sound good.”
Despite claims that she had gone home to rest, Naomi was still present at the August 11 Raw taping.
