Major WWE Championship Retained On Final NXT Of The Year

WWE NXT logo over blurred North American Title

Tonight’s edition of NXT is the final episode of WWE programming for this year, and it serves as the go-home episode for next week’s New Year’s Evil, where the major titles will be on the line.

The show saw a lot of segments that built up to next week’s big event, while also showcasing some exciting matches, including the NXT North American Championship match between Ethan Page and TNA star Moose.

Not only that, but the NXT year-end awards will also be announced on tonight’s episode, which includes several categories like the Superstar of the Year for both men’s and women’s divisions, while also announcing the Match of the Year, among other categories.

Ethan Page retains the WWE NXT North American Title

The night kicked off with the high-stakes match between Moose and Ethan Page as the former challenged Page for his North American Championship. Moose grew tired of NXT wrestlers winning TNA titles and challenged Page to turn the tide.

The match was off to a frantic start as the Champion attacked Moose as the ring announcer was making their introductions. Page used his wit to send Moose into the steel steps early in the match.

Page would ultimately make good on his promise of retaining the title as he defeated Moose to keep hold of his championship. Both of them wrestled an incredibly hard-hitting match, which ended when Page hit Moose with the Twisted Grin.
