Major Update On Trish Stratus’ Future In WWE

Trish Stratus Look

Trish Stratus wrestled only three matches in 2025.

She was one of the participants in the Women’s Royal Rumble match last year. She then teamed up with Tiffany Stratton to take on Candice LaRae and Nia Jax at WWE Elimination Chamber. Her last WWE match took place at WWE Evolution, where she challenged Tiffany for the WWE Women’s Title.

During a recent Fightful Select Answers Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that Trish was expected to wrestle more in WWE in 2025. WWE had internally discussed doing something special for “25 Years of Trish Stratus” in 2025, but those plans were quietly dropped.

In fact, the WWE legend always pitched fresh ideas to WWE creative and made herself available, but still, WWE didn’t book her enough last year.

Sapp said, “There were a lot of people around her and in WWE that were very surprised she didn’t wrestle more throughout the year… the expectation was that WWE would do some sort of ‘25 Years of Trish Stratus’ thing, and it just didn’t happen… people I speak to say she’s always pitched things and made herself available…

Sapp then commented on Trish Stratus’ future in WWE, saying that fans can expect to see her return in 2026.

“I think we’ll see her at some point in 2026,” Sapp added. (H/T: Fightful Select)

Why WWE Scrapped Trish Stratus Romantic Storyline With Jeff Hardy

In the early 2000s, WWE began building a romantic storyline between Trish Stratus and Jeff Hardy. This angle was meant to shift focus from the usual Trish–Lita dynamic and create a new “it couple” with Trish and Jeff as a tag team.

But the angle never came to fruition. When a curious fan on X asked the reason, Trish Stratus revealed that the storyline was cut short because she broke her ankle in real life, which took her out of action for a significant period. By the time she recovered, WWE had moved on creatively.
