Major Update On AEW Star’s Neck Injury
One AEW star has shared the latest update on their serious neck injury that saw them miss out on a historic match.
Blood & Guts returned to AEW on the November 12th edition of Dynamite, and for the first time ever, the female stars in the company got to enter the brutal double-ring steel cage match.
AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander led her team, including Mina Shirakawa, Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron, Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm, into battle against Mercedes Mone, Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Thekla, Megan Bayne, and Marina Shafir.
However, that was not always the planned bout. Penelope Ford missed out due to a serious arm injury, while Tony Khan revealed on social media before the November 5th edition of Dynamite that Queen Aminata had to be pulled from her planned Dynamite match with Megan Bayne.
It was implied that an injury to Aminata would mean she’d miss out on Blood & Guts as well, and that is what happened with Mina Shirakawa taking her place.
Queen Aminata Misses Out On AEW Match With Neck Injury
Now, speaking on her vlog, Queen Aminata has given the latest update on her neck injury that forced her out of Blood & Guts:
I was not cleared because my neck is so tight I cannot—now I can’t even move a little bit. And because of that, I got taken out of the match today, and that resulted in me being taken out of Blood & Guts. But you know what? I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Safety comes first. I’d rather be out for two to three weeks than be out for six months.
Every single time I get hurt and I’m possibly staying home, I change my diet right away… The moment I change my diet, I don’t make being hurt the priority anymore. My priority now is to make sure I recover and I recover better than I was prior to injury.
