Major Update In Liv Morgan’s Stalker Case
Liv Morgan’s alleged stalker is seeking their freedom, but prosecutors have issued a stern response.
On June 3rd, an individual was arrested at the WWE Performance Center following claims they had been stalking Liv Morgan. The incident was initially confused with another arrest at the facility on the same day, relating to an outstanding burglary warrant.
On May 26th, Shawn Chan, a Canadian citizen, allegedly boarded a flight to Orlando while telling customs officials that he’d be staying at the WWE Performance Center. This is despite the facility not having any rooms for such an overnight stay.
Four days after arriving in the city, Chan travelled to a house matching the description of Liv Morgan’s. Once there, he was apparently captured on surveillance footage circling the property twice before entering the porch and checking under a doormat. It’s presumed he was looking for a spare key.
According to the affidavit, he then touched the bottom of the front door and swiped the locking mechanism with his hand several times. He’s then seen learning on the door while pulling the handle in an effort to open it. Worringly, the affidavit then details the weapon that Chan had with him at the time:
Chan then “retrieved a long air rifle pellet gun from the front porch wall, which… had [been] left outside of the Residence,” the affidavit states. “The air rifle is a Sig Sauer MCX .177 air rifle capable of firing metal pellets at 600 feet per second. Chan can be seen sitting on the front porch with the pellet gun before standing and walking to the front door.”
After remaining at the property for a further two hours, Chan left a note near some packages. In the note, he mentioned “being wronged by members of an online gaming community.” The note went on to say, “I came here to pay just a friendly visit, nothing more… Yea, I just wanted to let you know that I was here.”
Liv Morgan “Extremely Concerned” By Stalking Incident
Chan has been locked up since his arrest in June, and with a trial not expected to take place until November, he is seeking his freedom before then, with a hearing set for September 26th. PWInsider has reported that prosecutors have now issued an official response to the latest motion strongly recommending that he remain detained.
The motion noted that Chan could be a flight risk for a number of reasons:
“concerning Chan’s mental health, his lack of ties to the community, his lack of employment, his foreign connections, and his status as a Canadian national meant that he posed a serious risk of flight.”
It is noted that Liv Morgan “is extremely concerned by the fact that Chan was able to find where she lived and make an unwelcomed and terrifying visit.”
If Chan is convicted of the most serious charges made against him, he could face up to five years’ imprisonment.
Liv Morgan is currently out of action after suffering a serious injury that caused her to be pulled from a planned feud and match with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella.
