Major TNA Star Set For New WWE Role

A former champion in TNA is going to have a big role on an upcoming WWE show.

It’s been a unique year for the WWE NXT and TNA brands, with many stars crossing over between the shows.

For the first time ever, the TNA World Champion is NXT’s Trick Williams, while WWE NXT’s Jacy Jayne holds the NXT Women’s Title and the TNA Knockouts Title, which has never happened before.

There are also rumors that TNA may be for sale, with WWE reportedly having an option to purchase the promotion, which could lead to even more interactions between the companies.

As announced on the August 12th WWE NXT TV episode, there will be a women’s tag team match on the August 19th edition of NXT in Philadelphia with Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx) facing The Elegance Brand (Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance, and M By Elegance).

That six-woman tag team match will now have a special referee. That’s because on the Twitter/X account of NXT GM Ava, the former Knockouts Champion suggested that she referee the match.

“Listen, I know the Triple Threat Match is on Sunday. But if you want a clear and decisive winner of the tag match in Philadelphia, I think you should make me the special ref.”

Ava agreed with Masha, while TNA’s Director of Authority, Santino Marella, was initially hesitant about it, but he ultimately agreed. Slamovich is officially the referee for the tag team match on NXT.

TNA Knockouts Title On The Line At NXT Heatwave

The next WWE NXT PLE is Heatwave on August 24th in Lowell, Massachusetts, with this lineup so far.

* NXT Championship: Oba Femi vs. Je’Von Evans-Trick Williams winner

* Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe

* TNA Knockouts Championship: Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Ash By Elegance vs. Masha Slamovich

* NXT Tag Team Championships: Hank & Tank vs. Two Members Of Darkstate

As you can see above, Jacy Jayne will defend the Knockouts Title against Ash By Elegance (formerly Dana Brooke in WWE) and the former champion, Slamovich.

There will likely be more matches made official on WWE NXT TV this week.
