Major TNA Star Skips Post-Show Appearance, Update On Unique Situation

A former TNA World Champion didn’t show up for an advertised appearance.

Mike Santana was crowned the TNA World Champion for the first time at the company’s annual October PPV, Bound for Glory, which is considered the biggest show of the year.

For one month after Bound for Glory, TNA didn’t hold another event to give their talent a break, and likely to save some money as well.

During a live edition of TNA Impact on November 13th in Orlando, Mike Santana was attacked by several members of the WWE NXT roster. Moments later, veteran wrestler Frankie Kazarian cashed in his Call Your Shot gauntlet trophy and beat Santana to win the TNA World Title for the first time in his career.

Taking the TNA World Title off Santana upset a lot of fans legitimately since he worked so hard for the top spot, and it was a long journey for him in storylines as well.

Mike Santana No Shows TNA Appearance, Not At Turning Point PLE Event

Next up for TNA is the Turning Point PLE on November 14th, which is supposed to feature Santana teaming with Steve Maclin against Nic Nemeth and Frankie Kazarian.

It was reported by PWInsider that as of 2 p.m. ET on Friday, Mike Santana was not at the Full Sail University venue for TNA Turning Point. Talent was supposed to be there at 1 p.m. ET.

Santana was also supposed to be at a post-show meet and greet after TNA Impact, but he no-showed that after losing the World Title to Kazarian. PWInsider added that “Santana has not returned the company’s call or texts.”

In a clarification of the story, Fightful Select reported that it’s just a work, meaning it’s part of a storyline TNA is running. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp provided some more info about it:

The Mike Santana news about him not answering calls is a work. The same official at TNA tried to feed that to us, and provided it elsewhere. Normally we wouldn’t blast something like that, but this is the first time someone in an official capacity reached out and provided us a worked angle in an effort to specifically work our audience.

PWInsider has also reported that Santana is backstage at Turning Point as expected.
