Major Title Match Announced For AEW Collision
The TNT Championship will be up for grabs on AEW Collision.
On the July 26 edition of Collision, Dustin Rhodes successfully defended the TNT Championship against Lee Moriarty.
After the match, Rhodes was confronted by Kyle Fletcher, who said he deserved to have a one-on-one match for the title before anyone else got their shot. Rhodes quickly agreed, but said that the match would be a Chicago Street Fight.
The upcoming edition of Collision will be held on Thursday, July 31, to avoid a clash with WWE SummerSlam.
At present, no other matches have been announced for Collision.
AEW Boss Tony Khan Had Difficult Conversation With Adam Cole
Dustin Rhodes’ victory at All In was not only a surprise within the context of the match, but just 24 hours earlier, he hadn’t even been scheduled to compete.
On the morning of the show, it was announced that Adam Cole would be vacating the TNT Championship and would be unable to wrestle. His planned match with Kyle Fletcher was dropped and replaced with the four-way match also involving Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara.
Before the match got underway, Cole confirmed that he would be giving up the title and said that although he didn’t want to talk about retirement, he was aware his career could be over. It was later reported that Cole had suffered a concussion days earlier on Collision.
In an interview after the event, Tony Khan recalled having a very difficult conversation with Adam Cole before All In, when it was decided he shouldn’t wrestle. Khan said that while it was the right decision to take, he described it as incredibly hard, but hoped Cole would eventually return.
