Major Star Renegotiating AEW Contract

Tony Khan AEW

Contract talks are underway in AEW.

On August 25th, Swerve Strickland will wrestle the biggest match of his career when he defends the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson at All In. Should Danielson fail to win, he’s pledged to retire.

The match marks another huge milestone for Strickland who has held the World Title since Dynasty in April. Interestingly, that success could result in a bumper new contract.

Speaking in a new interview with Barstool Rasslin, Strickland said he’s in “a renegotiation stage” with AEW.

Swerve Strickland Hits Back At Claims Of AEW Locker Room Unrest

During the same interview, Swerve Strickland said talk of problems in the AEW locker room has been blown out of proportion. Strickland went as far as suggesting the reports are “calculated” to try and cause unrest before major pay-per-view events.

The comments from Strickland came after it was reported there was a backstage altercation involving Britt Baker, Alicia Atout, and MJF. Baker was fined and suspended following the incident where it’s claimed she was venting her frustration about MJF.

It was later reported that Baker called Atout — MJF’s partner, a “stupid f*cking b*tch,” and a frustrated MJF punched a wall.
