Major Star Removes AEW From Social Media Amid Rumored WWE Move

A former champion in AEW has removed the company from social media accounts, which has led to more speculation about a possible departure.

Britt Baker is a former AEW Women’s World Champion who has only had five matches in the company over the last two years. Baker has had no matches in AEW since November 2024, which means it has been nearly a year since she wrestled for the company.

While Baker has dealt with long-term health issues in the past, she apparently doesn’t have any injuries to speak of now.

Regarding her contract, during a recent Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp said that Baker’s AEW contract runs at least until the fall of 2026. That means she has about a year left on a deal in a company that has willingly paid her to stay at home for the past year. Baker signed a five-year contract extension in the fall of 2021.

It’s also a possibility that AEW could include injury time in the contract due to Baker’s lengthy absence in the past. If they did that, then Baker would be under contract to the company until early 2027.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. Removes AEW From Her Social Media Accounts

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote about Baker removing AEW from her social media accounts.

“Baker has removed AEW from her social media profile. When she wasn’t at the Pittsburgh show I took that as she’s not going to be used again. Whether it was they thought she was headed to WWE (she’d get a huge pop at first but in other ways it may be difficult long-term because of the style difference).”

On Baker’s Twitter/X profile, it says this: “Professional Wrestler. Dentist. #WeAre #HereWeGo”

The “#WeAre” hashtag refers to her alma mater, Penn State University, and #HereWeGo is for her favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s not known if AEW would release Baker early from her contract, as they did for other disgruntled wrestlers, such as Ricky Starks (now Ricky Saints in WWE) or Rey Fenix, but there is precedent for it.

WWE superstar Blake Monroe was benched by AEW (where she was known as Mariah May) for several months before her contract expired, and she joined WWE when she was free to do so.

Some people believe that WWE is interested in signing Baker if she becomes available, but for now, she remains All Elite, even if she wants to hide that fact on social media.
