Major Rumour Killer On WWE’s Plans For Andrade

Andrade El Idolo AEW

A new report has shot down suggestions that WWE is looking to make plans for Andrade despite firing the star.

Andrade was fired by WWE earlier in 2025, with some reports suggesting that the star had failed multiple wellness tests and that he had been escorted out of a SmackDown taping by security.

Being apparently free and clear of WWE and somehow still in the good graces of Tony Khan, Andrade made his shock return to AEW soon after, attacking Kenny Omega. And then things got very messy.

WWE then made clear that Andrade was subject to a one-year non-compete clause as he was fired for cause. A former WWE star has suggested that he’d win if he fought the company in court over that clause, as he is not being paid by WWE either, despite not being able to work elsewhere.

One report suggested WWE was planning an audacious bid to bring the former US Champion back despite already re-debuting on AEW TV, but it seems that likely won’t be happening.

WWE Has No Plans For Andrade

Sean Ross Sapp noted on a Fightful Q&A that the report came from those in the Mexican wrestling world who believe WWE would use the situation as leverage to bring Andrade back, with his appearance for AEW only adding to WWE’s desire to bring him back into the fold. Sapp noted that he has heard from those in WWE who have said that there are no plans to use the star.

While it remains a messy situation, it seems Tony Khan might, at least, avoid the nightmare scenario of a star who has just rejoined his company almost immediately having to appear for WWE.
