Major Kenny Omega Match Set For AEW All In: Texas

Kenny Omega AEW

AEW has already begun planning a huge match for Kenny Omega.

At Westle Dynasty, Kenny Omega returned to the ring for the first time in 13 months. In December 2023 the star was diagnosed with diverticulitis and it’s since been revealed that the illness almost cost him his life.

However, inside the world-famous Tokyo Dome opposite Gabe Kidd, Omega quickly proved that he was still at the very top of his game. The two men went back and forth in a bloody war lasting half an hour, and when all was said and done, NJPW President Hiroshi Takahashi was left in tears at ringside.

Following that big win, Omega returned to AEW on the January 8th episode of Dynamite, vowing to take the world by storm one more time.

Kenny Omega To Go All In

While discussing Omega’s comeback at Wrestle Dynasty in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the star is currently scheduled to face long-time rival Kazuchika Okada at All In: Texas on July 12th.

Meltzer added that Omega’s recent performance in Japan should put to bed any doubt about whether he can continue to wrestle at a high level.

Provided he can stay injury free, any questions on whether his long-awaited fifth match with Kazuchika Okada, right now set for 7/12 in Arlington, TX, could deliver at the level of one of the best (if arguably the best) in-ring series ever were alleviated. Whether they can match 2017 and 2018 is a big ask, but this Omega against last week’s Okada absolutely can put on a match of the year contender.

The big in-ring return followed Kenny Omega coming face to face with Kazuchika Okada at Worlds End after the latter won the Continental Classic. Omega presented his long-time rival with the Continental Championship belt, sparking speculation they could meet in the ring soon.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Omega will return to action with AEW at Dynamite Maximum Carnage on January 15th against Brian Cage.
