Major John Cena Announcement Expected Within Days
An important John Cena-related announcement is on the way.
John Cena is scheduled to retire on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. Before then, he’ll make final appearances at New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 10 and the TD Garden in Boston on November 17.
As the dates on his retirement tick away, it’s been announced that Cena will face AJ Styles one last time at Crown Jewel. The match will serve as Cena’s farewell to Australia, with the event moving from Saudi Arabia to Perth for the first time ever.
Although the match was made following campaigning from both men on social media in recent days, it’s reportedly been planned for some time. One report suggested that the online nature of the build was because of Cena’s limited number of remaining televised dates.
Despite those updates, several questions about Cena’s December farewell still remain. However, these could soon be answered. As noted on the latest Wrestle Votes Radio, an announcement from WWE is expected within the next week, and maybe even as early as September 28.
John Cena’s Rival Outlines Retirement Plan
In a surprise announcement, AJ Styles has also now confirmed that he will retire in 2026. In a new interview to promote WWE’s upcoming live events in Japan, he said that the shows will be his final visit to the country as an active performer.
Styles said that while he hopes to compete at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, nothing has yet been agreed. However, he was adamant that he would hang up his boots within the next 12 months.
The comments come after it was recently reported that AJ Styles’ contract ends in February 2026, hinting that he won’t be wrestling much longer, even if a fresh short-term extension is eventually agreed.
