Major International Star Closing On WWE Deal
The WWE women’s division could be about to get even stronger.
In recent months Stephanie Vaquer has seen her star shine brighter than ever. While her impressive performances are no surprise to followers of CMLL and NJPW, her clash with Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door has launched her closer to superstardom.
On July 10th it was announced by CMLL that the star would be leaving the promotion, while also walking away from NJPW. This spent speculation around her future into overdrive. As a result, Vaquer has been stripped of the CMLL Women’s World Title, and the Women’s Tag Team Titles she held with Zeuxis.
Viva Van, Willow Nightingale, and Lluvia will now battle it out to decide a new Women’s Champion.
Stephanie Vaquer Expected To Join WWE
According to the most recent report on her status from Fightful Select, Vaquer has held talks with both WWE and AEW as she decides on her next move. Fightful notes that “as things stand” the now-former CMLL Women’s World Champion hasn’t signed with AEW, and doesn’t appear to be especially close to doing so.
WWE is said to have shown interest in Vaquer following her match at Forbidden Door, with sources in AEW expecting her to land in WWE.
Meanwhile, WWE is reportedly working to get Giuila on television as quickly as possible now that she’s recovered from a broken wrist. Giulia signed with the company back in April but has continued to appear in Japan for Marigold.
