Major Cody Rhodes Match Now “Up In The Air”

Cody Rhodes WWE

A planned Cody Rhodes match could now be off.

On August 6, it was announced that WWE’s Premium Live Events will be moving to ESPN from Peacock in early 2026. The monster deal is worth a staggering $1.6 billion across five years and will only impact fans in the United States.

This was swiftly followed by the news that the deal would be kicking off several months early.

The first Premium Live Event to be broadcast on ESPN will be Wrestlepalooza on September 20. That date is especially noteworthy as it’s the same day that AEW is set to present All Out. Although initially going directly head-to-head, All Out will now air earlier in the day.

Cody Rhodes Match Could Be Off

As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the planned match between Rhodes and McIntyre at Wrestlepalooza is now “up in the air.” Instead, McIntyre could end up wrestling Randy Orton to wrap up their feud.

There had been reports that Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton would be added to Clash In Paris, but neither man appeared at the event.

Rhodes has been absent in recent weeks while filming for the new Street Fighter movie. Roman Reigns is also involved in the project and was recently written off Monday Night Raw due to filming commitments.

In the only confirmed match for Wrestlepalooza, Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky will battle for the vacant Women’s World Championship.

According to Meltzer, the show will also feature John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar and an official reunion for The Usos to battle Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
