Major Change On The Cards For Ring Of Honor
There’s significant interest in Ring of Honor.
Tony Khan has held ownership of ROH and its media library since 2022. While there was initially a lot of positivity around the deal, Khan has been criticised for not doing more with the company with many fans feeling it’s often forgotten.
Wrestling on the brand currently airs via Honor Club via the ROH app, but that could be about to change.
During a recent interview, Tony Khan claimed there was a lot of interest in Ring of Honor, although declined to give any details regarding media rights negotiations.
I do think there’s a lot of interest right now in Ring of Honor. I’ve had great conversations about TV partnerships with ROH, and I think as AEW continues to grow, there’s going to be more great opportunities for ROH in streaming and television.
Lots Of Interest In Ring Of Honor
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported there are “multiple stations” in talks with Tony Khan regarding a TV deal.
He reiterated this is one of the reasons Chris Jericho is currently the ROH World Champion. Jericho was installed as the first-ever AEW World Champion in 2019 in part to try and help media rights negotiations.
Regarding ROH, there are said to be multiple stations in talks regarding a potential weekly show. As noted, that’s one of the reasons they made Chris Jericho champion during the negotiations process.
On December 20th, ROH will return to the Hammerstein Ballroom for the first time since 2018 for Final Battle. At the event, Jericho will defend the World Title against Matt Cardona, while Athena will defend the Women’s World Title against Billie Starkz.
