Samoa Joe suffered a brutal beatdown at AEW All In: Texas.

The July 12 pay-per-view saw The Opps open the show against the Death Riders, competing for the Trios Tag Team Championships.

It witnessed great back-and-forth action, with Joe dominating a good portion of the match and even getting the winning pinfall on Wheeler Yuta.

However, it was after the match when things went downhill for the Opps, as the Death Riders trio launched a brutal attack on them.

Claudio Castagnoli then Pillmanized Samoa Joe, resulting in him being stretchered off the venue.

According to a report by Fightful Select, the assault on Joe was to temporarily write him off programming so that he could focus on the promotional work for the TV series Twisted Metal.

The second season of the show will air late in July, where Joe plays the character of Sweet Tooth.

Samoa Joe Discusses AEW Retirement

During a chat with media personality Chris Van Vliet, Samoa Joe discussed his retirement plans.

The 46-year-old said his contract with AEW will play a role in his decision, and he might retire when his term with the company ends.

When asked about whether he thinks about retirement, he said:

Yeah, I do a lot. It’s probably coming sooner than later, which is fine. I think a lot of people from my generation, from what I’ve seen, if that they have the ability, we’ve done our best to kind of save up and we definitely don’t want to out stay our welcome, because we may have been privy to a few people may have done that in their careers. So I definitely don’t want to be that guy in mind. [H/T: Insight with Chris Van Vliet]

Joe’s duration of his time away from AEW currently remains unknown.
