Major AEW Star Expected Back Very Soon

Tony Khan AEW

A top AEW star will be back in the fold “imminently.”

Back in May, Darby Allin finally achieved his dream of reaching the top of Mount Everest.

The expedition was the end of a long journey for Allin, which saw his initial plans to reach the summit scrapped in early 2024 after he suffered a broken foot on Dynamite against Jay White. But never one to shy away from a challenge, Allin refused to be beaten and finally achieved his goal a year later.

As a result of the training required and the expedition itself, Allin hasn’t wrestled since taking part in the Continental Classic in December 2024; however, his comeback could now be just days away.

Darby Allin Close To AEW Return

According to a new report from Fightful Select, many within AEW expect Allin to be back on television “imminently.” In fact, those figures would be “shocked” if he weren’t involved with All In Texas on July 12 in some capacity.

The former TNT Champion is said to have emerged from the Everest trip relatively unscathed and can compete if needed. However, Fightful hasn’t heard of any specific creative plans for Allin.

The report reiterated that the company had hoped to have Allin back for the Owen Hart Cup, but that timeline was quickly proven to be unrealistic.

While Darby Allin is close to a return, it seems that former Women’s Champion Britt Baker may never wrestle for the company again. As her lengthy absence continues, it’s been reported that she is actively trying to leave AEW more than a year before he contract ends.
