Major AEW Name Reportedly Considering WWE Return After 6 Years

A WWE Hall of Famer could be thinking about a return “home” since his AEW contract is close to expiring.

The name of Chris Jericho has been linked to a possible AEW departure and a WWE return, but he’s not the only big name who could be going back to where they used to work.

Just like Chris Jericho, Jim Ross has been with AEW since day one, when he was a part of the company’s commentary team. In recent years, Ross has had health issues, and his AEW appearances have been limited to just PPV events where he joins commentary for a match or two.

Recently on his podcast, Jim Ross talked about being cancer-free and how great it is to hear that from him. In addition to that, Ross admitted that his AEW contract is close to expiring, and he also added how much he has enjoyed working for the company that Tony Khan runs.

“I love where I am, because nobody has ever taken care of me as good as Tony Khan is and has. So that’s why I’m so content about being there. I want to stay there in AEW, and I want to work more. I want to be able to contribute more. So that’s my goal to stay healthy and contribute more to the company that pays me.”

Jim Ross Could Explore A Potential WWE Return After AEW Contract Ends

Even though Jim Ross is publicly saying that he loves being part of AEW, Wrestlevotes reports that the 73-year-old WWE Hall of Famer Ross could be interested in wrapping up his career in WWE.

It was also mentioned that if JR decides not to stay with AEW, then it’s likely that WWE would welcome him home to the company where he spent over two decades as an announcer and a Head of Talent Relations.

A lot has changed in WWE since Ross last worked there in 2019, and the main change is that Vince McMahon is no longer running the company. With different people in charge, like Paul “Triple H” Levesque as the WWE Chief Content Officer, they could view Ross differently than McMahon did and maybe have a role for him that JR likes.
