Major AEW Announcement Expected On Milestone Show

Tony Khan AEW

The biggest open secret in wrestling could finally be confirmed as it is believed there will be a huge announcement during a major AEW show.

For months speculation has built surrounding AEW’s future with Warner Brothers Discovery as negotiations took place over Tony Khan’s company’s TV rights in the United States.

A deal, however, seems to be done with John Ourand at Puck reporting that AEW’s new deal with Warner Brothers Discovery looks to be for four years with the first three guaranteed and the fourth an option year. The ballpark figure of $170 million per year has been given with AEW programming to air twice a week on TBS, TNT, and TruTV.

But no official announcement has been made – but it could be on its way on a very apt show.

AEW Announcement Coming On Milestone Dynamite?

Writing in his Daily Update, Dave Meltzer gave an insight into when a deal could be announced and thinks there’s a very real chance it will be made during Dynamite’s fifth-anniversary show:

An announcement is just about ready for the new WBD and AEW media rights deal. I think the announcement will only mention a deal, the stations but not necessarily everything that the deal entails. But as we’ve reported weeks ago, the deal has been completed. It’s possible it’ll be Wednesday in conjunction with the fifth anniversary.

Despite the talks with WBD, former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland may have let slip that the company is heading to FOX as well.

The five-year anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite will take place on the 2nd of October in Pittsburgh, PA. That show will see a huge double title match take place between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada while the International Title will also be on the line as Will Ospreay defends his gold against Ricochet.

Following the chaos during the lumberjack strap match on Collision, Hangman Adam Page will face Juice Robinson and hometown hero Dr. Britt Baker DMD will return to face Serena Deeb.
