NJPW

Wrestle Kingdom 17 will be the biggest event of the year for New Japan Pro Wrestling, and NJPW has made a huge announcement concerning the main event.

Taking on Kazuchika Okada, who won the G1 Climax, will be Jay White in defense of his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

At the end of Declaration of Power on Monday, NJPW made the announcement, this following a title defense from White against Tama Tonga, which would see White retain. New Japan would make it official after a promo from White when Okada interrupted him with a staredown. Okada would get a win against JONAH in Declaration of Power’s co-main event.

Now confirmed by NJPW, the match between White and Okada will be the headliner for Wrestle Kingdom 17, which takes place on January 4, 2023 at the Tokyo Dome. Against Okada in the singles division, White has a win/loss record of 4-1, previously beating Okada at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 13.

As far as the rest of Wrestle Kingdom 17, no other matches have been announced.
