Madusa Calls Out Top NXT Star
The legendary Alundra ‘Madusa’ Blayze has called out a top NXT 2.0 performer, alleging that her gimmick was stolen by them!
NXT 2.0 viewers were treated to a rehash of the famous Madusa segment on the brand’s 19 July broadcast. Harking back to the Hall of Famer dumping the WWF Women’s Championship in a trash can during her WCW Nitro debut, Cora Jade did the same with her half of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Madusa has now slammed the segment, accusing Jade and WWE of “stealing” her gimmick. Speaking to SEScoops’ Scott Fishman, the three-time Women’s Champion joked that at least Cora Jade remained employed:
“The Cora Jade throwing the belt in the trash, what was that? They keep trying to steal my gimmick. What is that? You’ll never be able to do it. The thing is when I saw that, I said, ‘Well damn, at least that b*tch got to keep her job.”
Madusa appeared on the following week’s NXT 2.0, setting up a four-team Elimination match to crown new champions. That ultimately saw Kayden Carter and Katana Chance walk out as the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, remaining in possession of them to this day.
This isn’t the first time Madusa has commented on the incident, as she claimed that Cora Jade cut a “great promo” when dumping her championship. There’s no word on what caused her opinion of the segment to sour.
