Logan Paul Learns Who He Will Face At WWE Royal Rumble

Logan Paul WWE US Champion

Logan Paul knows who his opponent will be at the WWE Royal Rumble after a winner was crowned in a tournament to determine the next challenger.

At WWE Friday Night Smackdown in Vancouver, it was the New Year’s Revolution episode of the blue brand show. That was WWE’s way of spicing it a bit and making it feel like a bigger than usual episode of Smackdown.

There were also two big matches on the show that determined title challengers.

In December 2023, an eight-man tournament was started on Smackdown with the winner getting a US Title shot against Logan Paul. Santos Escobar picked up wins over Dragon Lee and Bobby Lashley (a very controversial win in that case) while Kevin Owens got victories over Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes of NXT. That led to the Escobar-Owens final.

Kevin Owens defeated Santos Escobar in the first match on Smackdown. Escobar’s allies Angel & Humberto were taken out by Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde, so Escobar didn’t have any help at ringside for the match. Owens ended up getting the win with a Stunner.

After the match, Logan Paul told Owens that he gets to face the greatest United States Champion of all time. Paul mocked Owens for breaking a sweat while Paul hasn’t broken a sweat in 62 days (the last time Paul wrestled). Paul trashed Owens for being Canadian and said Owens beating Paul for the title is like the Canucks winning the Stanley Cup. That drew boos from the Vancouver crowd that loves their Canucks in the NHL. Paul said it would never happen, so Paul went up to Owens and Owens used the cast on his “broken” right hand to punch Paul, which knocked Paul down. The fans loved it.

The big win by Owens means he will challenge Logan Paul for the US Title at the Royal Rumble in Tampa on Saturday, January 27th. Owens has held the US Title three times for a total of 96 days. The last time Owens held the US Title, he only held it for two days.

When Did Logan Paul Win The US Title?

At WWE Crown Jewel on November 4th, which was two months ago, Logan Paul defeated Rey Mysterio to win the United States Title.

That victory was very cheap since Paul used brass knuckles to blast Rey in the face. Those brass knuckles were introduced by Logan’s friend, who was then chased by Escobar (Rey’s ally at the time), who left the brass knuckles on the ring apron. Paul found them, used them and left as the US Champion.

Since the Royal Rumble takes place on January 27, that means Paul will go nearly three months between when he won the US Title and when he will defend it for the first time.
