Locker Room Reaction To John Cena’s WWE Retirement Match Revealed
Once the bell rang, signaling the end of John Cena’s retirement match, fans echoed with boos.
For the first time in over two decades, the 17-time world champion had tapped out to an opponent. Gunther screamed in elation, raising his hands aloft after beating a modern-day legend and a future WWE Hall of Famer.
Gunther left the ring, giving Cena the time to take in the love and cheers that the fans would shortly send his way.
However, all he could hear was a bulls*** chant, forcing a smile and a shrug from the former champion.
Out came the talent and executives from the back, led by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The jeers grew louder, as a ‘you f**ked up’ chant took over the Capital One Arena.
The Chief Content Officer paid no heed to the vile language, as he hugged and congratulated Cena on an illustrious career, later playing a montage, which even featured Vince McMahon briefly.
While John Cena’s retirement show made it the highest-grossing show in Capital One Arena, it will also be remembered for the way fans reacted to its ending.

Many fans believed that John Cena should have won the match.
While Triple H justified Cena’s loss, calling it a time-honored tradition during the post-show, Gunther is not the wrestler for whom this gesture should have been reserved.
