Liv Morgan Wins WWE Women’s World Title Thanks To Shocking Assist

Liv Morgan Womens Title WWE

Liv Morgan captured the Women’s World Title in a way that shocked a lot of the WWE Universe.

At the WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the opening match on the main card saw Becky Lynch defend the Women’s World Title against Liv Morgan. There were three title matches on the show and there was only one title change as Liv Morgan left the event as the new Women’s World Champion.

Going into the matchup between Lynch and Morgan, the story focused on the fact that Morgan had never beaten Lynch in a singles match before. Since Lynch had only won the championship 33 days earlier in a Raw battle royal, many people likely expected Lynch to retain the title so that she could continue as champion. However, that’s not what happened.

During the King and Queen of the Ring Countdown show, Morgan was interviewed backstage and she was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day. When Liv asked Dominik what he was doing there, Dominik stated that he was there to make sure Liv didn’t leave with Rhea Ripley’s title.

In the final moments of the match, Dominik Mysterio made his way down to ringside with his left arm in a sling due to an injury he has been dealing with. Liv went up top, but Lynch met here there leading to Lynch hitting a superplex off the middle turnbuckle.

As the referee checked on Liv, Dominik slid a chair into the ring towards Lynch. That led to Lynch refusing to use the chair as Dominik went on the apron to distract referee Daphanie LaShaunn. While Lynch was mad about the chair being in the ring, Liv gave Lynch a DDT onto the steel chair. The referee never saw it. Liv hit her Oblivion finisher off the ropes and covered Lynch for the pinfall win to become the new Women’s World Champion.

After the match, the announcers Michael Cole and Corey Graves called Dominik an idiot for ruining the match and helping Liv Morgan win even though Liv took out Rhea Ripley, who is Dominik’s “Mami” in The Judgment Day group.

When Liv Morgan went backstage, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque greeted her with a backstage hug that was posted on WWE’s Instagram channels. Morgan was emotional because she missed about six months of action in 2023 due to a serious shoulder injury, so now she’s and is a champion once again.

Becky Lynch Wants Title Rematch With Liv Morgan

Later in the show, Becky Lynch was shown backstage yelling at Dominik Mysterio as Byron Saxton was there to interview Lynch. That led to Lynch saying she didn’t know what was going on with Ripley, Dominik, or Liv, but Lynch knows she has a rematch clause in her contract. Lynch said she’ll talk to Raw GM Adam Pearce and she wants her rematch this Monday on Raw. It’s unknown at this time if Lynch will get that match.

Something to consider with the Liv/Dominik story is that they have been seen together on screen in the background many times in recent weeks, which could raise red flags about if Dominik helping Liv was an “accident” after all.
