Liv Morgan Had Wild Brawl With Former Champion Early In WWE Career
A former champion in WWE learned early on that you should never mess with Liv Morgan.
When Liv Morgan originally signed with WWE in late 2014, she was a 20-year-old with a very bright future. Over the last decade, Morgan went from being a Riott Squad member to a popular babyface, and eventually a championship wrestler who was one of the most hated wrestlers on the roster.
Liv Morgan is unquestionably a WWE success story, having been a two-time Women’s World Champion and the first-ever Women’s Crown Jewel Champion.
When Morgan was training at the WWE Performance Center in the mid-2010s, other women there included former WWE NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and former Women’s Tag Team Champion Sonya Deville.
During an appearance on CJ Perry’s (fka Lana in WWE) Identity Crisis podcast, the former Sonya Deville told a story about when Morgan got into a legit fight with Rose.
“We’re in promo class, and we did this drill, and it’s called the pull-apart promo. You do a pretend pull-apart. People are security, or other people are pulling you off the other girl, and you’re just pretending, and then you have to cut a promo right after.”
Deville mentioned that some of the other women around were Aliyah and Danielle Kamela (Vanessa Borne), and they tried to keep Liv and Mandy apart.
“So they’re doing a pull-apart. Me, Aliyah, Kamela, we were the three people to pull them apart… I’m in the middle of the two of them, and they’re doing it, and it feels normal at first. Then I’m feeling the wind whiz past my ear, and I’m like, ‘Yo, they’re really throwing.’ And then I hear one of them say, ‘What, b*tch?’”
Liv Morgan’s Fight With Mandy Rose Led To Some Hair Insults
As Deville continued to tell her story, she spoke about how everybody who saw the fight was freaking out because it felt and looked real.
“Then I look, Aliyah’s gone. Danielle’s gone. They bounced because now it is a scramble, and I’m in the middle. I’m shooting on both of them to get them off each other.
Mandy had Gionna’s hair, Gionna (Liv) had Mandy’s hair, and they’re screaming at each other and swinging for the fences. Finally, the boys slide in to help me rip them apart. They get in the ring. We get them apart. They slide out. Coaches are yelling. [Matt] Bloom comes in and everyone’s freaking out.”
After the women were separated, there was some more trash talk involving hair.
“Mandy was so proud at the time that she didn’t have hair extensions back then. So [Liv] rolls out and she’s like, ‘You pulled my hair.’ And Mandy goes, ‘At least my hair is real, b**ch.’
And they’re just f**king each other up now, cursing each other out. The coaches came in and gave a big speech. I think one swung a little too snug and the other retaliated.”
While Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville are no longer WWE superstars, Liv Morgan has been out of action since June this year after suffering a shoulder injury during a match. Morgan had surgery to repair the injury and will likely be back in the ring by early 2026.
During a recent appearance at the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere, Liv Morgan didn’t give much of a shoulder update, but she did mention her “watch me” catchphrase when she said: “I think that everyone’s just going to have to watch me.”
