Why Liv Morgan Was Desperate To Prove A Point During Latest WWE Run
Liv Morgan once gave her locker to Rhea Ripley.
After returning to the ring at the 2024 Royal Rumble after a six-month absence, Liv Morgan embarked on what she later dubbed the “Liv Morgan Revenge Tour.”
In storyline, Morgan’s hiatus had been caused by Rhea Ripley, and she was determined to take everything from the Women’s World Champion upon her return.
Morgan quickly put Ripley on the shelf and won the championship after it was vacated. The star then went on to form a partnership with Ripley’s on-screen squeeze Dominik Mysterio while clashing with the Aussie through the summer and into early 2025.
While Morgan picked up her fair share of losses as she battled Ripley, this stretch of her career was praised far and wide, with many feeling she proved herself to be a true main-event level talent.
Liv Morgan Wanted To Prove Everyone Wrong
While speaking to CNN-News18, Morgan explained that she always knew Ripley would be a major star, but that came with its own motivation. She added that this left her wanting to prove she could be on Ripley’s level and force people to take her more seriously.
“I’ve spent a lot of time with Rhea (Ripley) during NXT. I don’t know if you know this, but when I got called up, I actually gave Rhea my locker.
I was like, ‘Here, my young. You can have my locker’ because she didn’t even have a locker because that’s how — but I did always know that Rhea was gonna be a star. I just always knew, I just saw it in her. I knew that she was gonna be a star and I’m so smart and I was right.
But I feel like I wanted to prove that you don’t need to put all your eggs in Rhea’s basket. You can put some eggs in my basket and so the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour was pretty much me proving I’m just as much of a star as Rhea and if you don’t believe me, watch me and I feel like I’ve solidified that and proved everyone who thought differently wrong.”
After missing several weeks due to filming for a movie in Japan, Liv Morgan returned to WWE action on May 26. On the show, Morgan caught Roxanne Perez paying a little too much attention to Dominik Mysterio after being brought into the Judgment Day fold at the behest of Finn Balor.
Morgan initially kept her cool, instead choosing to focus on her match with Kairi Sane. However, when Perez came to ringside and ended up in an argument with Raquel Rodriguez, Morgan became distracted, allowing Sane to win.
However, to the surprise of many, Morgan took her frustration out on Rodriguez, who she said should have known better.
