New Report Claims Lita Held Talks With AEW In 2021

Lita walks to the ring

A new report has claimed that WWE Hall of Famer Lita held talks with AEW as recently as last year about a deal that would have included a feud with a major star.

After short runs in CMLL and ECW early in her career, it was Lita’s time in WWE that launched her to superstardom. While a member of the WWE roster she became a four-time Women’s Championship and engaged in her now-legendary feud with Trish Stratus.

Lita made her return to the company on the January 14th edition of SmackDown, the first time she had appeared on the blue brand for almost two decades. The appearance came after it was announced that she would be returning to the ring in the upcoming Royal Rumble match.

On the show, Lita explained that she thinks she’s got one last run in her, but was interrupted by Charlotte Flair. In the end, though, it was the veteran who got the last laugh, dropping ‘The Queen’ with a Twist of Fate.

However, it has now emerged that Lita’s recent career could have gone in a very different direction.

In a new report, Fightful Select has claimed that AEW reached out to ‘The Extreme Diva’ in 2021, but the two sides could not agree terms on a deal. Part of the talks included a creative pitch that would have seen Lita feud with current AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker. The report adds that this was planned to happen around All Out 2021.

It was also suggested that the two sides remain on good terms, and didn’t rule out working together in the future.

The report added that despite Lita’s previous injury issues, she’s not on WWE’s “no contact” list and has been cleared for action for over four years.

The former Team Xtreme member’s most recent match took place in 2018 when she returned to the ring for a trio of matches. She began the year by appearing in the Royal Rumble before wrestling at WWE Evolution and in a tag team match on Monday Night Raw.
