Lex Luger Still Waiting On Important WWE Decision
Lex Luger is looking ahead to the WWE Hall of Fame.
On March 7, to the delight of fans around the world, it was announced that Lex Luger would finally be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Despite his in-ring career being long behind him, Luger remains an incredibly popular figure with fans with many feeling his induction is well overdue.
Following the announcement, attention immediately turned to who might induct the former World Champion and one name quickly sprang to mind. Sting has been close friends with Luger for decades, and Luger credits The Icon with helping him turn his life around after a well-documented battle with alcohol and drugs.
However, with Sting under contract with AEW, and the uneasy rivalry been the two companies, things might not be that straightforward. During a recent media call, Tony Khan revealed that he hasn’t discussed the topic with Sting, and his status remains unknown.
Lex Luger Still Wants Sting
In a new interview with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda, Luger was asked about the possibility of having Sting and Diamond Dallas Page on hand at the Hall of Fame, before confirming he’s yet to receive an answer.
“Yeah, they were asking me about who could induct me and have an inductor or an introducer, whatever they call them. And I said, obviously, DDP has been working with me so much in the past. I’m so thankful. I’d love for him to be out there.
But I go, man, my dream would be — have you ever had a twofur? Two guys out there for somebody?’ They can kind of spot me. So if I try walking and I start to fall, I can have my two best buddies spot me on my shoulders. There’s your money shot. Sting on one side of me, and Dallas on the other, making sure I don’t fall while I’m up there.
I’m a brevity speaker. So I’ll only be up there for a few minutes speaking from the heart, but with gratitude and thanks. But to have both those guys there, I ran it by WWE guys, Triple H’s right-hand man, ‘Oh, I know what you’re gonna ask. Well, I have to run that up the flag pole. But, man, I don’t know.’ I haven’t had an answer back on that.
Obviously, maybe selfishly, I think it’d be great for the fans, too. I mean, I just think it would be a classy thing to allow him up there.
Now WWE may allow them up there, but he’d also have to have permission from Tony Khan and AEW. So there’s a lot of moving parts there. But ideally, obviously, I would love to see both of those guys up there with me. That would be huge for me, and I think it would be special for the fans.”
Luger is set to be inducted alongside Triple H, the Natural Disasters, and Michelle McCool. For the first time, the company will induct an “Immortal Moment” in the form of Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin from WrestleMania 13.
