Lex Luger To Be Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame

Lex Luger will finally be joining the WWE Hall of Fame in 2025.

It has been a long time coming for “The Total Package” Lex Luger, but the former WCW World Champion will be inducted into the 2025 Hall of Fame class.

The announcement of Lex Luger joining the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame class was made by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who surprised Lex on February 19th during a training session with Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page. The video was posted by WWE on their social media channels, YouTube, and other places.

During his career as a pro wrestler, Lex Luger was a three-time WCW World Champion while also holding many other titles in that company. Luger had many legendary battles with the likes of Sting, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and numerous others. Luger spent time as a heel and a top babyface as well.

Luger also worked for WWE and was a main eventer for part of 1993 and most of 1994. It appeared as though Luger would be WWE Champion at SummerSlam 1993 against Yokozuna, but he won by countout and wasn’t able to win the WWE World Title. Luger was the co-winner of the 1994 Royal Rumble. In September 1995, Luger’s WWE deal ended and the next day he was on WCW Monday Nitro, which likely infuriated Vince McMahon.

In his post-wrestling life, Luger has spent several years in a wheelchair, but he is starting to walk again thanks to the help of DDP.

Triple H shared a kind message on social media welcoming Luger into the WWE Hall of Fame.

. @GenuineLexLuger has overcome challenges his whole career. Not only a champion in WCW and an incredible @WWE Superstar, but he has overcome challenges in life that are truly inspirational. He will now take his place as a member of the 2025 #WWEHOF

Luger will join WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Michelle McCool in this year’s class that will likely be inducted at some point during WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas. The Natural Disasters tag team of Earthquake & Typhoon/Tugboat are also expected to join this year’s class, but it’s not official yet.

Lex Luger Was Hopeful For WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Lex Luger made it clear that he would love to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

“Well, people say that good things come to those who wait. Always hopeful. If not, I still feel I had a great career. There’s a lot of deserving guys other than me who still aren’t in as well. So, yeah, it would be a huge honor though — if and when it happens.”

The 66-year-old Luger went on to mention former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who may not have wanted Luger in the Hall of Fame due to his 1995 defection to WCW. Since Vince is no longer a part of WWE, perhaps that is why WWE is open to inducting Luger this year.

“You know, I don’t know what criteria they do, because there’s a lot of other guys too that should have been in. So I don’t know if it was me personally or anything with Vince [McMahon] at all. I’m not sure about that. Only they can answer that.”

Luger has been signed to a WWE Legends deal for about ten years and went on to say that he thinks WWE wanted to see that he was a different person.

“I think they waited and saw — I think they observed that I was a different guy now. And I felt that they learned to maybe trust who I was, that this wasn’t some temporary thing, that this is the new Lex and this is the direction he’s headed with his life, so I’m thankful. They’ve been a real blessing in every way, including financially. You know, they gave me new merch out and [send what] the guys call ‘mailbox money.’

As mentioned above, WWE has yet to announce when the Hall of Fame ceremony will take place.

The WWE website has also paid tribute to Luger as well.
