The Lesson Tony Khan Should Be Learning From WWE

AEW Tony Khan

Tony Khan has been told there is a lesson or two that he should be learning in terms of running a wrestling company from WWE.

AEW is on a hot streak in terms of its product in recent months as it heads into its biggest US show ever at All In Texas. That show will see Jon Moxley defend his AEW World Title against Hangman Adam Page as Page vows to end the Death Rider’s reign of terror in the company. Mercedes Mone earned the right to challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Title after winning the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

But there are still issues Tony Khan could do better with, and now he’s been advised to take a leaf out of WWE’s playbook when it comes to dealing with injured stars.

Tony Khan Urged To Learn From WWE

Liv Morgan recently suffered a serious injury that will see her out of action for months. Her tag team partner, Raquel Rodriguez, has continued her hostilities with Rhea Ripley and found help in the form of Roxanne Perez.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez suggested that in the same situation, Tony Khan would simply have both Morgan and Rodriguez disappear without explanation, as he urges the AEW boss to learn from WWE:

One of the things about WWE booking that is great and Tony Khan actually should learn from is when somebody gets hurt, they find a way to make it work in storyline. So Liv is hurt and Raquel is her tag team partner so if this was AEW, Raquel would just disappear. Liv and Raquel would be gone, you wouldn’t hear about them, they would just vanish for months on end.

Here, Liv is out, Raquel needs a partner, they hate Roxanne, Finn hates Liv so he’s schmoozing with Roxanne, and now Roxanne has helped Raquel, Raquel gave her a hug afterwards. Raquel and Roxanne are getting buddy-buddy which is going to lead to Liv being furious when she comes back. It’s actually very clever the way that they do this.
