The Most Important Lesson CM Punk Learned From Paul Heyman
CM Punk’s history with Paul Heyman is one of mentorship, loyalty, and impactful storytelling.
They first crossed paths in WWE’s developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where The Oracle recognized Punk’s potential. Punk has called himself a “Paul Heyman guy” due to Heyman’s pivotal role in guiding and supporting him when few others did.
Their on-screen partnership began in 2012 during Punk’s record-setting WWE Championship reign, where Heyman served as his manager. They had a compelling storyline that ended in betrayal at Money in the Bank 2013, but remained close friends off-screen.
They reunited on-screen in early 2025, only for Heyman to screw Punk at WrestleMania 41. Speaking on GQ’s Actually Me, CM Punk looked back on his history with Heyman. He also revealed an important lesson he learned from The Oracle.
“Paul, I don’t know if he taught me, but he more reinforced, don’t take any sh*t from anybody. “
Paul Heyman’s Reaction to the Return of CM Punk’s Wife, AJ Lee
CM Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, returned to WWE after a decade earlier this month in September. Paul Heyman wasn’t very thrilled with Lee’s comeback and even disparaged the former WWE Divas Champion in an interview with ESPN.
Hell of a cliffhanger. I’m always comfortable ringside with Seth freaking Rollins. Maybe the strategy calls for me to be elsewhere at that moment. Maybe the strategy calls me to be ringside at the moment.
I actually think this is a complete misuse of CM Punk’s family, to be very honest with you. I don’t think AJ Lee is in the league of the greatest woman’s wrestler of all time, Becky Lynch, the first woman to ever main event WrestleMania and win, by the way. She won the match, didn’t just main event it, she won the match against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. I think it should simply be Seth Rollins versus CM Punk, and the loser keeps AJ.
In case you missed it:CM Punk and AJ Lee defeated Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza.
