LA Knight Claims Major WWE Match Was “Business As Usual”
LA Knight has insisted that his debut WrestleMania clash with AJ Styles was just another day at the office.
The reigning WWE United States Champion has been one of the company’s most popular Superstars since reverting back to the LA Knight persona in September 2022 following an ill-fated nine months performing as talent agent Max Dupri.
The former Impact Wrestling World Champion finally made his WrestleMania debut at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on 7th April 2024, defeating AJ Styles in a critically acclaimed bout.
The popular 41 year-old, who had previously spoken of his disappointment after being surprisingly omitted from the WrestleMania 39 card a year earlier, was recently asked about his debut at the ‘showcase of the immortals’ during an appearance on ‘105.1 The Bounce‘ and insisted that was just another night for him:
“I would love to tell you yes, and it was all my childhood dreams come true and blah, blah, blah, but honestly, in hindsight, there was a little bit of that, I guess, but really at the time it was just kind of a business as usual.
I’m coming in, I’m gonna go in and i’m gonna do my work and my work is going in there, getting in a 20 by 20 ring and, basically just face to face with another man, And in we go, and there’s going to be some physical stuff happening in there. I mean, we were going at it we were going hard. If you remember me and AJ going there.”
Despite playing down his own first WrestleMania experience, LA Knight went on to explain that his Mother became a bigger fan of WWE having attended the show in person:
“It’s a big experience, and it was eye-opening, not just for me, but I think even in my friend and family circle, there was new fans made there. My mom, for instance, not historically a big wrestling or WWE fan, but after going to WrestleMania now, she’s like, oh, my God, it’s all I can think about. It was so fun, and this person showed up, and Snoop Dogg showed up, and all this stuff and everything.
So, like… new fans were made that night. For me, yeah, like you said, first time out to shoot. Yeah, it was a great night. But like I said, another night at the office.”
LA Knight Names His Wrestling Mount Rushmore Picks
Which four wrestlers sit atop wrestling’s Mount Rushmore is a long debated and subjective question that often draws differing opinions from fans and Superstars alike.
LA Knight recently provided his top four of all-time, naming The Rock, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan as his selections.
