Why LA Knight Wishes WWE Had Deal With TNA Earlier

LA Knight is excited about WWE’s new deal with TNA.

On January 16th, WWE officially announced a multi-year partnership with TNA Wrestling. The deal is the continuation of the agreement that saw NXT and TNA stars repeatedly move between the two companies throughout 2024.

One WWE star who knows more about TNA than most is LA Knight.

Knight spent four years with the company between 2015 and 2019, winning the World Championship and World Tag Team Title among other honours.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Knight gave his thoughts on the official new partnership, joking that it should have happened while he was still in TNA.

“I feel like it’s a few years too late. This thing should’ve happened when I was there [laughs]. It’s unprecedented. I know WWE’s had partnerships with All Japan, ECW, and stuff like that, but this is so different in a way because TNA, although it was a very distant second place for a long time back in the 2010s and whatnot, it was still the only real competition for a long time.

So now to take one of those companies and to partner up, it’s like such forbidden fruit in a sense. It’s pretty crazy to see and then also, just the idea that now some of their people can come up and show up on our TV, some of our people can show up on their TV. It’s clearly only mutually beneficial because then everybody wants to know what are the possibilities going to be.”

Bayley Wants In On WWE Deal

Speaking elsewhere, Bayley revealed that she contacted Triple H as soon as the partnership was announced. The former Women’s Champion said she’d love to get in the mix with any TNA stars that find their way to WWE, adding she wants to learn from as many different people as possible.

“When they announced the TNA partnership, I texted Hunter immediately and said, ‘Sign me up, dude.’

Fresh off the back of his appearance in the Royal Rumble, Joe Hendry said John Cena challenged him to make a match between the pair happen. The TNA World Champion revealed that he spoke at length with Cena during the event, and the veteran told him to drum up interest in a potential bout.
