LA Knight Needs One Thing To Save WWE Career
LA Knight is currently struggling on WWE RAW.
The Megastar has only won only two matches of his last nine. The 42-year-old has even extended his losing streak after his defeat last Monday to Bron Breakker. The Loss was his third consecutive one.
Knight’s current booking has fans worried about his future, as he drifts further from capturing his first World Heavyweight Championship.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray discussed Knight’s situation, pointing out that The Megastar needs a “blood feud” to revive his career. He claimed Creative must turn the former United States Champion into a loved babyface, not a babyface with taglines.
You know what LA Knight needs? A blood feud. Get him out of the championship picture and put him in a ‘blood feud.’ Have a heel tell LA Knight, ‘You’re a one-trick pony, you’re a flash in the pan, you’re nothing more than a catchphrase. And let me know something, LA Knight. I don’t think you understand this. So, listen to me very, very carefully. These fans don’t really like you. These fans don’t really love you.’
All you have to do is say that to LA Knight and you’ll immediately get the people behind him more than they are right now. And they’re losing, even though they’re with him during the match, it’s going to be easy for fans to lose faith in him because he seems to be there, there, and then he loses. He’s right there, he’s right there, and then he loses. They haven’t had a chance to really cheer and truly get behind LA Knight for a big win.
If he’s out of the championship picture, have a heel come up to him and go, ‘Dude, you’re useless. You’re worthless. You’ve been in the business for 20 years and haven’t done sh*t. And other than them saying LA Knight and yeah, you got nothing. You’re on the way to mid-card, maybe opening match, enjoy being irrelevent because the fans don’t like you. If they really really liked you…’ And then just go on. And program the audience to love LA Knight. [17:48 onwards]
WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry Is A Fan Of LA Knight
In a recent interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry heaped praise on LA Knight. He disclosed that although he initially did not believe in the former United States Champion, he has become a fan of him.
The wrestling legend also brushed off the claims suggesting The Megastar was too old for a major push in the Stamford-based company.
LA Knight is an outstanding talent. There was a time when I didn’t believe. I thought that he leaned on what other people did and are doing too much, and not creating his own thing. He has proved that he belongs and deserves the opportunity to be the guy.
There’s things that he does that I would say, ‘Hey man, segue out of that and do more of what you’re really good at,’ which is walk and talk. He’s a good wrestler, at the end of the day. There’s so much that he can do that he doesn’t do, and you need to lean into that.
As far as him being too old, there was a time guys where in wrestling, you didn’t even get your shot until you were 40. You didn’t get a shot. Guys wrestled into their 60s. [H/T: WrestleTalk]
