Former WWE Champion John Cena is about to hang up his boots next month, and many of the promotion’s top stars are trying to earn the right to become the final opponent of his illustrious career.

Three of the four semi-finalists had already been confirmed before the second match of the tournament took place tonight. Gunther and Solo Sikoa booked their spots this past Monday night, while Jey Uso punched his ticket earlier tonight.

Only one sem-final spot remained in the tournament and it took place between LA Knight and his mystery opponent, who was revealed to be The Miz, earlier on the show.

LA Knight defeated The Miz on WWE SmackDown

LA Knight has been on a mission to become John Cena’s final WWE opponent and earned an impressive victory against Zack Ryder in the preivous round. He prepped up all week without knowing who he would face tonight and still managed to come away with the win.

The Miz, who was the only competitor to get two chances in the tournament, tried his best to have a rematch with Cena but he fell short at the second time of asking as well.

LA Knight seemed to be in control of the match on most occasions was made to sweat for the win by The Miz. He kicked out of a Skull Crushing Finale and got out of an STF before hitting the A-Lister with a BFT for a three count.
