LA Knight Admits “A Lot Of This Was Unexpected”
LA Knight has discussed being left off of multiple WWE Premium Live Events.
The SmackDown star has seen a meteoric rise in popularity in 2023, with many fans expecting big things for Knight in the near future. However, to the surprise of many, WWE are yet to pull the trigger on the megastar.
Following an absence from both nights of WrestleMania, LA Knight has only competed at one PLE since, which was Money in the Bank on July 1st in the men’s ladder match. In what most predicted to be a guaranteed victory, Knight did not capture the briefcase, which was won instead by Damian Priest.
Speaking with Good Karma Wrestling, Knight addressed not being a part of some of WWE’s biggest events, while also admitting that the rise in popularity has been unexpected, which could lead to big things at SummerSlam:
“Sure. I mean some of that, look, the roster is so stacked and full. You want the premium live event to stand out as something different than what you see on TV, so you don’t want the exact same formula. So those spots on the premium live events are limited, and so at some point, look, I’m getting the big reactions, you can’t deny that. But at the same time, I guess some people would say, ‘Well, he’s only been here nine or ten months or whatever.’ But some of that’s also just figuring out that a lot of this was unexpected.
A lot of this came out of the blue, so sometimes plans have to change, and that’s the way it goes. So here we are, and now you’re looking at me being an integral part of this SummerSlam coming in. You got the Slim Jim battle royal, it’s 20 guys in that ring. I don’t who anybody else is in that match except me and Sheamus at this point, so all bets are off when it comes to that, but Ford Field, battle royal, you’re looking for big things and there just might be this guy’s hand raised right there. Yeah,”
How LA Knight Got Over In WWE
LA Knight captivated the WWE Universe with his infectious charisma and witty putdowns of opponents. The Yeah Movement has taken over the wrestling world, with Knight’s name and catchphrases being chanted whether or not the former Million Dollar Champion is in attendance. The Megastar himself would share a video of fans recreating his promo after an episode of AEW Dynamite.
