Kurt Angle Teases Possible WrestleMania 39 Role
Kurt Angle’s not done. The former Olympic gold medalist wants to work more with WWE.
On August 29th, Angle made a return to WWE television where he was the centerpiece in an episode of Raw in his hometown of Pittsburgh. As far as actual wrestling, Angle hasn’t done so since his match at WrestleMania 35 where he would lose to Baron Corbin, now known as Happy Corbin.
Kurt Angle would also receive offers from AEW during his retirement, but chose not to join the company.
The 13-time world champion would make an appearance on the Wrassingh Show, and was questioned on whether or not he thought working with AEW would have hurt his relationship with WWE.
“Yes, I do. It’s natural to think that. I have a contract with WWE, it’s a nostalgia contract. It’s more of a merchandise contract. I always try to keep a good relationship with them, ever since I left them for TNA and came back to WWE.”
“I don’t want to do that again. I don’t want to jump ship because WWE has always been good to me. They keep me active now. I was just on the show two weeks ago. They’re talking about maybe me doing something at Wrestlemania.”
“They are always reaching out to me to help do media and stuff like that, kind of be an ambassador for the company. I like doing that. I don’t mind because I can’t wrestle anymore.”
When he was asked to shed more light on the possible plans for WrestleMania, Angle stated
“It’s just an idea. It won’t be in a wrestling capacity at all. There is nothing there yet.”
During his appearance on Raw, Kurt Angle had a “shoosh-off” with Chad Gable, chugged milk with the Street Profits and re-lived a “you suck” segment with Edge that was done during the Attitude Era.
