Kurt Angle Says Vince McMahon Still In Charge Of WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has explained why he believes deposed WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is still calling the shots in the company.

Vince McMahon stepped down from the company he built into a global powerhouse in July as investigations into alleged sexual misconduct and hush money payments continue.

McMahon’s retirement stunned the wrestling world and he has since been replaced by the trio of Nick Khan, Stephanie McMahon, and Triple H. Stephanie McMahon and company President Khan have been named as co-CEOs while Triple H is now the company’s creative driving force as well as the Head of Talent Relations given John Laurinaitis’ exit from the company as well.

With two of those people, at least, people Vince McMahon might share Christmas dinner with, many have wondered if McMahon’s influence will really be far away from the company.

Speaking to former WWE Tag Team Champion Rene Dupree on his Cafe de Rene podcast, Kurt Angle explained why he thinks Vince McMahon might still be in charge:

“I personally don’t think he has fully retired. You know Vince, he’s gonna be behind the scenes. Vince is not letting go of that company, he will not let it go until his hands are dead cold and they pry it out of his cold dead hands. He’s not letting go of that company until he dies, and that’s just it.”

“I’m not trying to cause any problems for WWE or for Vince McMahon, because I love Vince to death. But there is no way that he is going to let it go. He already set up Stephanie being in charge and Triple H being in charge of Talent Relations. He got everyone in the right positions so that he could continue to run the show.”

“So I’m not trying to tell everyone ‘Hey world, Vince McMahon is still involved.’ He might not be, but I think he is. He’s on the phone ‘Stephanie. Call this, call that.’”
