Kurt Angle Thinks John Cena Could Have “Changed The Face Of Wrestling” In TNA
Kurt Angle thinks John Cena following him to TNA could have been game-changing for the wrestling business.
Kurt Angle surprised many when he left WWE in 2006 before jumping to TNA later in the year where he got to share the ring with the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Jeff Jarrett, and Sting.
Plenty of wrestling stars of all generations have made the jump from one company to another but John Cena wasn’t one of them once he joined WWE.
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medallist explained why he thinks John Cena could have had as bad an impact by making the switch to TNA as he did in 2006:
“John Cena, I believe, would have made just as much of an impact as I did in TNA. If we both would have came there, that would have changed the face of wrestling. I really believe that. I honestly believe, John Cena coming to TNA would have probably changed the face. He was such a big name that he’d have a huge impact, immediately, like I did.
“I don’t know if he would have more of an impact, maybe, maybe not. John Cena is really talented and what he’s done in WWE is unparalleled. Having him come to TNA, first of all, if WWE released him or if Cena’s contract expired, WWE has no right to say, ‘You’re not allowed to do that.’ If Cena wanted to go to TNA, he would have gone to TNA. The question is, would John Cena do that? John would have changed the game.”
Will John Cena ever wrestle again?
Cena began to wind down his full-time WWE career in 2019 as his commitments in Hollywood began to take precedence. He has returned to the company since with his last outing coming at WrestleMania 39 when he lost to Austin Theory with the US Championship on the line.
