Kurt Angle Explains Why Forgotten WWE Star Never Made It – “He Never Improved”

Kurt Angle

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle did it all during his pro wrestling career but what most fans forget is that Angle once led a group on SmackDown that didn’t live up to Team Angle.

While acting as SmackDown General Manager, Kurt Angle protected himself from the blue brand’s stars via his hired gun Luther Reigns. The duo eventually added Mark Jindrak to its ranks but things didn’t pan out in WWE for either of Angle’s lackeys.

Speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medallist explained why he thinks Luther Reigns never was able to make it any further in WWE:

“He needed a lot more work. He was really green in the ring. As far as microphone skills, he was incredible, had a great look, everything going for him. He just couldn’t improve. And the problem was I think he never really practised.

“They would have practice sessions earlier in the day during the shows and Fit Finlay would lead the charge. And Luther never attended. And I think that that’s where he needed to be every day. He just didn’t do it. He had time to get better. He had ways of getting better, but chose not to for some reason.”

Luther Reigns was a powerhouse in the ring but once the partnership with Kurt Angle fizzled out, so did his WWE career and he was released from his contract in 2005.
