Kurt Angle Explains Why He Thinks Christian Cage Could Be The G.O.A.T
Olympic gold medallist Kurt Angle has been unequivocal in his belief that AEW star and new IMPACT Wrestling Champion Christian Cage could have been the best wrestler ever.
Angle had a lot of kind words for his former colleague in Team ECK/RECK alongside Edge and Rhyno when he discussed Cage on The Kurt Angle Show [via AdFreeShows.com].
Kurt Angle reminisced about the times he spent with Cage, Edge, and Rhyno before adding that he feels Cage is one of the most underrated pro wrestlers ever:
“Every once in a while we touch base. He’s such a good guy. We were best friends, you know, Edge, Christian, myself, and Rhyno. We really were best friends. We spent a lot of time together and that time was so valuable. I’ll never forget what he did for me. What he did for the business. Christian is one of the most underrated professional wrestlers of all time. This guy should actually already be in the Hall of Fame. That’s how good he was and, I don’t know, I mean, I think someday he will be. I just think that he’s been underappreciated.”
Christian Cage made headlines on the first episode of AEW Rampage when he defeated The Belt Collector Kenny Omega for the IMPACT World Championship. In doing so, Cage also collected the TNA World Title belt that had been part of Omega’s extensive collection.
Such success will come as no surprise to Kurt Angle, who says Cage could have been the greatest of all time:
“He could have very well been the best professional wrestler of all time. That’s how good he was. He was creative putting the matches together. His timing was impeccable. He was one of the absolute best I’ve ever worked with.”
Christian Cage’s first gold in AEW came in Angle’s hometown of Pittsburgh, PA but Cage already has his sights set on more success. He will challenge Kenny Omega again at All Out on the 5th of September for the AEW World Championship.
