Kurt Angle thinks that the timing couldn’t possibly be better for Cody Rhodes to win.

Ever since Cody Rhodes won the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match, fans have been wondering if Cody truly has what it takes to beat Roman Reigns. Cody is being positioned as the one person that can do what so many others failed to: pin or submit Reigns in a one-on-one match.

This will be a monumental challenge for him. Since becoming champion, Reigns has beaten the following wrestlers: The Fiend, Braun Strowman, Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Cesaro, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Finn Balor, Brock Lesnar, Sami Zayn, Goldberg, Riddle, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul.

But Cody still has many supporters that are confident that he’ll still win on Sunday night. One of those supporters is Kurt Angle, who explained why he’s picking Cody Rhodes over Roman Reigns on Rewind Recap Relive.

“Yes, I have no doubt in my mind that’s gonna happen at WrestleMania. Roman Reigns, it’s been over two years, and Cody Rhodes is really hot right now.

They needed somebody to kind of ignite the company, and Cody Rhodes is doing that right now as we speak. Him beating Roman Reigns would be a big deal for the WWE and the WWE Universe”.

In that same interview, Kurt Angle explained that he wrestled Cody back in 2017 and saw the incredible potential in him, even back then.

He also posited that WWE didn’t use Cody properly during his first run, but Cody was able to become a more polished and well-rounded wrestler during his time elsewhere.

“He was always good. He was young when he started out, but he was every bit as good back then as he is now. The company just didn’t utilize him properly.

After he went to AEW and got some more years and made himself even more popular, WWE brought him back, and now they’re doing the right thing with him.

Cody Rhodes is every bit as good as his dad and his brother. He might even be a little bit better.”
