Kota Ibushi Undergoes Surgery, Sends Message To Tony Khan

Kota Ibushi AEW Collision entrance

Kota Ibushi has undergone surgery.

During the October 11 edition of Collision, Kota Ibushi suffered a broken femur in a match with Josh Alexander.

While Alexander had Ibushi in a Fireman’s Carry position on the middle rope in the corner, the pair lost balance and fell backwards out of the ring. Once they’d crashed to the floor, Ibushi immediately grabbed his leg, and Alexander got back in the ring as his rival was counted out.

In the midst of the post-match angle, Ibushi was tended to by doctors and later taken away in an ambulance.

After the show, Tony Khan paid tribute to Ibushi, describing him as one of the greatest wrestlers he’s ever seen.

Kota Ibushi Vows To Keep Trying

In a post of his own on social media, Ibushi confirmed that he’d undergone surgery to repair his broken femur while thanking Khan for sending him gifts in hospital. He added that despite his injury, he has to keep trying.

Again?
Again?

I’ve only had serious injuries. This is a broken femur, and the broken bone is trying to break through the flesh. They told me to stop, but the surgery was completed successfully!!
(Unless I get another serious injury) I plan to live my life as a normal person from now on.

It’s been about five years of breaking, healing, and accidents But it didn’t end like this, right? Above all, the best boss Tony Khan, and my colleague as vice president Kenny Omega. Nakazawa-san, who helped me with so many things. AEW, the world’s best. I can’t believe the president himself gave me a bouquet and a letter. After something like this, I can’t quit again!! I cried.

I don’t know if it will take a year or a year and a half, but I’ll start by doing something. Right now, I’m in so much pain that I can only move my toes. I was surprised that I still had a sense of pain. Mr. Tony Khan…I just have to keep trying.

Ibushi has endured an injury-hit run since sustaining a serious shoulder injury back in 2021. The star didn’t return to the ring for 18 months, but disaster struck again in January 2024 when he suffered a major ankle injury while dealing with an existing ankle issue.
