Konnan Discusses AEW’s “Unprofessional High School Attitude” Backstage

AEW Roster Tony Khan

Former WCW star Konnan has given his thoughts on the situation backstage in AEW and says anyone with a bad attitude should be cut from the company.

AEW has had a difficult 2022 as a company with a series of incidents that have led many to comment on the backstage situation in the company.

MJF dominated headlines ahead of the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view when it was uncertain whether or not he’d show up at the event after apparently being unhappy with company CEO Tony Khan over his contract. There have also been reports of backstage physicality between stars with Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, and Andrade El Idolo all being sent home at one point for lashing out.

The most high-profile incident came after All Out when CM Punk gave a damning indictment of many of his colleagues at the post-show media scrum. An alleged fight then broke out backstage which saw Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Punk all suspended with company producer Ace Steel reported to be fired for his part in the chaos.

Speaking on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan gave his own outside assessment of AEW’s locker room situation and he says anyone with a bad attitude should go:

“There’s a very immature, very unprofessional high school attitude that is very prevalent. I just think that if it was Punk, if it’s Jericho, if it’s Moxley, if it’s Danielson, if it’s Arn Anderson, if it’s who it is, they just need to get rid of some people; and the people that want to stay, read them the ground rules.”
